Through
multiple customer interviews and changes to my original idea. I have determined
that an opportunity exists based on the fact that people who drink hot drinks,
like coffee and tea, burn their mouths on a pretty consistent basis. Not
everyone has this problem. I have found that certain people have different
tolerances to heat so this would not apply to every coffee or tea drinker, but
many people still need a solution. My idea is a mug or cup that can immediately
drop the temperature of the drink from the initial brewing temperature of 192
degrees to a more comfortable temperature around 175-180. The process of
dropping the temperature would only take a few seconds and it would stop people
from burning their mouths. My thoughts are that with the huge popularity of
single cup coffee machines, like Kuerigs, you would brew the coffee directly
into this mug. Then you could immediately take the first sip, which is the most
flavorful part of coffee, without the risk of burning your mouth or tongue.
Hi Patrick,
ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting idea as I do feel there would be a need for it. Something to perhaps consider would be that people might want to use these mugs for others types of drinks besides coffee as well. For instance, if someone wants to use it for iced coffee would it make the iced coffee colder? Maybe have some sort of setting on this mug for different drinks people want.
Patrick,
ReplyDeleteI agree that this is an issue. I have dealt with it many times. Once I burn my tongue on my coffee, my food tastes weird for the rest of the day. This is a unique idea and if it is made to be affordable, I believe it would be successful. I think your idea would find it to be beneficial to partner with companies like Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, and other coffee shops to implement this neat invention.
Hi Patrick,
ReplyDeleteThis is a really unique idea that I think would be very helpful. There is definitely an opportunity here because I know that people burn their tongues often and it is annoying and uncomfortable. This idea would be very popular year round but, especially in the winter and up north. The science behind the mug would also be very interesting and innovative.
I think your idea has a lot of potential. Although many people live in warmer climates and like colder drinks like iced coffee and tea, people in colder climates prefer warmer drinks. This opens up a huge market for people in those areas who want their drinks to be “luke warm”.
