I honestly think the most formative experience I have had in
this class was the first assignment in which we had to list 20 things that bug
us and why they exist. This was the foundation of the whole class and
introduced a new way of thinking about problems that people have and how to
solve them.
I don’t think that I will ever forget the reading assignments
considering I had to read books for them. That isn’t really something you
forget especially when it teaches you something and isn’t fiction. The most
joyous experience were probably the interviews since I had an excuse to
reconnect with people in my life that I hadn’t talked to in a while. And I am
most proud of myself for actually completing all but one of these assignments.
I have not had a class structured with this much consistent homework since high
school so that was a challenge for me.
Like I said before, I think this class has definitely taught me
how to look at problems from the view of trying to solve them for people. I
consider that an entrepreneurial mindset which I did not have before. The best
advice for new students in this class is to stay on top of your work. It is
easy to get behind and have to read an entire book in a day to finish an
assignment. Also, I would just say to be open to constructive criticism and to
take it into account when you’re adapting your idea. That will help you not
only in this class but in other aspects of life as well.
