Assignment 30A

I honestly think the most formative experience I have had in this class was the first assignment in which we had to list 20 things that bug us and why they exist. This was the foundation of the whole class and introduced a new way of thinking about problems that people have and how to solve them.
I don’t think that I will ever forget the reading assignments considering I had to read books for them. That isn’t really something you forget especially when it teaches you something and isn’t fiction. The most joyous experience were probably the interviews since I had an excuse to reconnect with people in my life that I hadn’t talked to in a while. And I am most proud of myself for actually completing all but one of these assignments. I have not had a class structured with this much consistent homework since high school so that was a challenge for me.
Like I said before, I think this class has definitely taught me how to look at problems from the view of trying to solve them for people. I consider that an entrepreneurial mindset which I did not have before. The best advice for new students in this class is to stay on top of your work. It is easy to get behind and have to read an entire book in a day to finish an assignment. Also, I would just say to be open to constructive criticism and to take it into account when you’re adapting your idea. That will help you not only in this class but in other aspects of life as well.

  1. Patrick,

I definitely think the best advice to offer to students who have yet to take the course is to stay on top of their work. I agree that it is easy to get behind. It is also easy to get ahead so maybe we could have utilized that more often. I forgot about the bug list but now that you bring it up again, I also really enjoyed that list and the thoughts that it provoked.

  2. I honestly never considered myself as an entrepreneur. I didn’t think I had what it took to start a business from scratch. This class helped show me the steps needed to do so. I have enjoyed this experience, but I still do not consider myself an entrepreneur at the end of the course. I too will remember the reading assignments, this is the first time I have had to read three books in one semester.

  3. I went into this class with a strong mindset that I would learn about entrepreneurship and advocate an idea that would help me develop these skills. I was on point and these assignments like you said were helpful for all of us in helping us develop this mindset. I also think the ability to receive constant feedback on all of our assignments was great.
